Copy That!

Remember as a kid how upsetting it was when someone duplicated your work? What made it worse was having an adult console you by saying, “copying is the sincerest form of flattery.” I still hear people repeat that saying today like it’s a golden rule.

Personally, I always thought my mom invented it since she repeated it over and over like a soothing mantra after a bunch of kids copied my eighth grade science project. The fact is, we’ve all passed this lie around for most of our lives, but I believe it has a very negative impact…

Ditch Your Backup Plan

Creating a plan B when it comes to your dreams, is giving up before you ever get started. It’s just that simple. Sure, all of us have a very real, very fearful part of ourselves that thinks, “It would be stupid to just climb out there on that high wire without a net.” But the truth is, if you step out there without the net, your whole focus will be to get across that wire…

Are You Aiming For Enough?

There is a quote on my notebook where I keep my daily lists that says, “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss it, you will land among the stars.”

That quote reminds me everyday that if you shoot for “just enough,” that’s what you’ll get…or less. So how did shooting for just enough become okay? When did just covering the bills become your dream?

Maybe You Need A Mental Breakdown

The City of Santa Monica hosts a 5k run every May along the shoreline. This year I decided to push myself to participate. After all, I workout at the gym five days a week and this seemed like a good challenge for me. The only problem is I don’t like to run.

Steer Clear of the Cracks… A Lesson in Attraction

When you put your attention on something long enough and with enough emotion you will attract it to you. You are creating this way everyday regardless of whether you’re aware or not. I learned this lesson years ago, quite abruptly, while taking a simple bike ride.

Dream Big

“Let no man put asunder” a poetic phrase from the Bible. It is often referenced when speaking of marriage and many use it in their wedding ceremony. But this morning I was writing and these words flowed through me; “you are wrapped in the arms of love. Let no man put asunder.” A gift was set before me to realize that I am always loved no matter what and to never let any man made idea separate or divide me from that understanding.

It was also a reminder that when you hold a vision, a dream and great hope, let it be wrapped in love and don’t let anyone come between you and that dream. So many times we allow our hopes and our dreams be crushed…
